Barrier Lake is located in Kananaskis Country along Highway 40. This is not a very popular lake when it comes to fishing because of the slow action here most of the time. Always changing water levels of this reservoir due to hydroelectrical dam are hard on a fish.
However, you can still catch Brown, Lake Trout, and Whitefish at Barrier Lake if you are willing to spend some time. The area where the river enters Barrier Lake seems to be more productive than the rest.
This lake gets extremely busy on weekends and parking gets full pretty fast.
