Upper Burstall Lake is an alpine lake that can be accessed year-round with proper hiking gear. Depending on the weather ice can stay on this lake until early July.
Like many other alpine lakes in Kananaskis, Cutthroat Trout is the most common fish in Upper Burstall Lake.
Another popular fishing spot in the area is Chester Lake located on the opposite side of Highway 742.

Upper Burstall Lake is located 149 km SW of Calgary in Kananaskis Country off Highway 742. To get to the lake there is a 4.5 km one-way hike with an elevation gain of about 250 m.
