Upper and Lower Kananaskis Fishing Tips
The most common fish species are Bull, Cutthroat and Rainbow Trout. No bait is allowed on both lakes and all the Bull Trout is catch and release only.
If you want to catch Bull Trout, use lures that mimic the appearance of small trout. Bull Trout are known to feed on smaller fish.
These are deep lakes and it takes a long time for them to freeze so be careful when ice fishing there. There is also a lot of bear activity around the lakes.
There are a few campgrounds in the area where you can stay if you plan to fish for a few days. However, both lakes are very popular so book your spots in advance.
